Did Kaplan’s Yule Log Tease Overwatch Android?

This is definitely a long stretch, but it is my job to inform anything Overwatch related — whether legit, speculative, rumor-ish, and whatnot. This year, Jeff Kaplan’s Yule Log lasted 8:02 hours.

At 3:54:51 in the video, Jeff Kaplan opens one of the gifts tucked beneath the Christmas tree. It is an Android tablet.

I say this might be a stretch because in this case he uses the tablet as an excuse to introduce some shout outs from Overwatch voice actors, and community folks.

However, those who have been around in Overwatch for years might remember that the new hero Sombra was not announced or teased the normal way. We knew about Sombra through a flickering text that showed up onscreen when visiting the hacked Overwatch forums. That hidden text was decoded by members of the community to reveal a scavenger hunt ARG.

So the point I am making is that while this is absolutely a stretch, maybe the Overwatch team is actually sending signals that Overwatch Android and iOS might not be too far in 2020.

After all, who would have thought that Overwatch would ever come out for the Nintendo Switch. Yet, here we are. So how do I go into a “stretch” from watching Kaplan hold a Tablet? Well, that was not the only time when he interrupted the motionless Yule Log video to open a gift. Earlier, the 1:59:55 mark, Kaplan opened a gift that contained a Nintendo Switch and a Overwatch branded Switch case.

So if you are not capturing a Overwatch Android/iOS vibe from this year’s Yule Log video — I don’t know what to tell you.

P.S. I have to point out that the Nintendo Switch is based on the Android-powered NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet and its Tegra1 chip (which I own) — Source: NVIDIA Blog. So it is just a matter of when Blizzard would also announce the Android version.
