During the Activision Blizzard 2015 Q3 Financial Results conference call, held today at 5am PDT, Blizzard Entertainment CEO Mike Morhaime announced that over seven million players opted-in to join the Overwatch Beta. Blizzard will continue to add new players via invitation waves. There are no beta keys and there won’t be emails. Blizzard manually flags the user’s account to enable the install button in the Battle.net Launcher.
I’ll livestream Overwatch beta gameplay for another 2-3 hours. Bare with me, I don’t know hero abilities yet, and fighting is chaotic. Easy to learn, hard to master and all that. Follow us on Twitch.tv/blizzplanetcom and YouTube.com/blizzplanetcom for more content.

A few weeks ago, thousands of gamers beheld the awesome life-sized Overwatch statues sculpted by FX Déco. We posted photos of these statues (taken by our staff member @Handclaw) for those interested. Video of The Making of the Overwatch statues is now online to watch.
This is not a GamesCom 2015 preview. This 7-minute gameplay video was posted by Blizzard today Aug 11 to showcase Lucio in action, and whoever played it reached Top 3 in that match. So he’s definitely a pretty good DPS and support character, as he heals his teammates too. This video takes place in the Numbani map.
Around 00:03:40, you can see Lucio’s Sonic Amplifier ability used to knockback Hanzo off the terrace to fall to his death.
Lucio can dodge enemy damage by accelerating his speed and literally racing on the wall for a short time. That’s racing along the wall, not climbing. That’s Hanzo.
Get some popcorn and sit tight to watch this Lucio Gameplay video. Overwatch beta begins this Fall 2015. Stay tuned.
Blizzard Entertainment displayed several Overwatch statues crafted by FX Deco Studio at the GamesCom 2015 booth, delighting fans who ventured into the space. Among the statues were Winston, Tracer and Reaper.
Blizzard also had the Orgrim Doomhammer statue and the King Llane statue from the Warcraft Movie seen recently at the SDCC 2015; plus new Heroes of the Storm statues. These are photos taken by Blizzplanet reporter @Handclaw.
With the advent of GamesCom 2015 and the latest new hero and two maps revelation Blizzard Entertainment shocked fans with the Overwatch Beta icon appearing in the Battle.net Launcher today. The HYPE is REAL!!!
